The amazing… Brazilian Keratin Treatment -bkt!

July 24, 2010

A lot of people confuse Brazilian Keratin Treatments (also known as Brazilian Blowouts) with the other chemical straighteners and relaxers that are out there in the market place, but this process is actually completely different.  Unlike those older processes the Brazilian Keratin Treatment does not weaken the structure of your hair to straighten it. This treatment builds upon your hair’s existing structure with keratin that is similar to a protein already found in the hair. The process uses heat to bind this compatible protein to your hair cuticle creating smoother more vibrant hair.

Brazilian Keratin Treatments work best on hair that has been color processed, highlighted or chemically treated, unlike chemical straighteners and relaxers.  Brazilian Keratin Treatments also do not have the harsh ingredients sodium hydroxide and ammonium thioglycolate which permanently damage your hair. When you decide to stop using the chemical relaxers and straighteners, you will have to wait for your hair to grow all the way out for the damaged hair to be cut off.  With a Brazilian Keratin Treatment all you have to do is wait a few months for it to naturally fade out of your hair, with no lines of demarcation. Your hair will gracefully return to the state it was in prior to the treatment, almost like a temporary color.

The personal care industry is constantly evolving and coming up with new innovations in products and techniques. The Brazilian Keratin Treatment is by far the biggest and most impressive innovation in hair treatment that I have ever seen. I’ve been performing Brazilian Keratin Treatments on my Orange County clients for a couple of years now using the highest quality formaldehyde free keratin products on the market. If you’re interested in finding out what a Brazilian Keratin Treatment can do for your hair please give me a call and come in to the salon for a free consultation.

After care:

Immediately following the treatment do not wash your hair or get it wet at all for 3 days

Use a sulfate- free shampoo

In regard to the process shown in the above video: In my experience the treatment should be applied to blow dried hair, not towel dried hair. Drying the hair first might take a little longer and dried hair may require the stylist to use more of the product, but the results are worth the extra effort.
